Using a Water Bob

A Water Bob is a food grade plastic bag that you can put in your tub to collect drinkable water. This is useful if you believe you will have a power outage, or if you believe your pipes will freeze and you will not have access to drinkable water. We just experienced a severe polar vortex, and our pipes did freeze, and we are going to have a few more very frigid nights. To make sure we had potable water we did purchase water flats, and we put our Water Bob in the tub.
The Water Bob holds 100 gallons of drinkable water, and has a siphon system to transfer the water to other containers.

First, we laid the Water Bob in the tub. then we attached the sleeve to the main water container. The open end of the sleeve gets attached to the tub faucet. Then you just turn on the water and let it fill up. When the Water Bob is full, you attach the siphon. To take the water out, keep the top of the siphon closed, hang the tube over the edge of the tub into your container, and squeeze the bulb until the water starts to come out. The water will start to flow into your jug or jar or bucket. When you have enough water, loosen the top, and the water will stop flowing.
Now that we have used the Water Bob, I recommend that you purchase a length of food grade tubing, about 3 - 4 feet long, or a siphon hose for water. this will make it easier for you to get the water out when the level gets lower, or you need to remove the Water Bob from the tub.
When we were done with using the Water Bob, we drained the water into containers and put some down the toilet and used some for cooking and drinking.
After emptying the Water Bob, we turned it over to drain out the last bit of water and let it dry. After that we were able to refold it to the size of a gallon ziploc bag. The Bob is reusable, but make sure you drain out the old water.
The Water Bob is a worthwhile purchase, and it is not expensive. Here is the link to the Water Bob that I'm showing you. There are many options for this type of water bladder, and you can find them here.
I hope this helps and Have Fun Prepping!!
